Coombs Country Market
About 30 min from the Carriage House
"Goats on the Roof", located in Coombs, BC, is a great spot to take your family. Spend a day shopping for international foods, imported gifts, in-store baked goods, and of course... ice cream! They have a casual restaurant, deli and fresh, (usually local) produce. Cukoo's Restaraunt is right nextstore - they serve wonderful Italian food in a fabulous setting. With many other stores in the same area this is a fun way to spend the afternoon.
Deep Bay Marine Field Station
Just 8 mintues from Carriage House
Owned by Vancouver Island University this is a wonderful place to visit. Overlooking the majestic views of Deep Bay, the station is a center for shellfish research and one of the greenest buildings in Canada. Upstairs you'll enjoy two large aquariums and the next level down you can watch the technicians work in the labs, and the lowest level there are four touch tanks. Open to the public.
​Cathedral Grove

Cathedral Grove is a rare and endangered remnant of an ancient Douglas fir ecosystem on Vancouver Island in British Columbia (BC), Canada. The biggest trees in the Grove are about 800 years old and measure 75 m (250 ft) in height and 9 m (29 ft) in circumference. They are the survivors of a forest fire that ravaged the area some 350 years ago and the even more devastating invasion by Europeans who colonized Vancouver Island from 1849.

Chrome Island Lighthouse
In front of the Carriage House
Chrome Island Lighthouse was established in 1891 to assist marine traffic in the region of Deep Bay, British Columbia, Denman Island, and Hornby Island. It is a fully manned station, Along with electronic navigational aids, the five-second flash lighthouse is approximately 21 metres (69 ft) above water level (depending on tides). The station has a helicopter landing deck and rescue boat.
